A hugely satisfying piece to make. I love throwing at this scale. Quite a different process to working small; slow, step-wise and methodical, but also full of jeopardy.

This blue-grey has developed over the years, and this version settles just over the line from slate-grey, into something much more vivacious. There are a few kestrels that hunt near the studio. Against their rust-coloured wings, the grey of their heads occasionally takes on this quality.
